SSG (Ret.) Joseph L. Hull, LCSW

SSG (Ret.) Joseph L. “Joe” Hull, LCSW is a combat veteran, former Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, author, educator, and keynote speaker. After enlisting in the United States Army in 2006, he was assigned to The Old Guard and served in the Tomb Guard Platoon at Arlington National Cemetery, earning the Tomb Guard Identification Badge in 2008. He currently holds the record for the most ceremonial walks completed by a Sentinel, with exactly 2,000 walks at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Following his service with The Old Guard, Joe was assigned to the historic 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), carrying on the lineage of the famed “Band of Brothers” Easy Company. He deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

After medically retiring from military service in 2017, Joe dedicated himself to the field of mental health, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Austin Peay State University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a Clinical Counseling concentration from the University of Kentucky. He later became independently licensed and founded a rural mental health organization serving children and adolescents. He is also currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at Murray State University.

Today, Joe serves as President and Co-Founder of Feral Pagans and its various divisions, where he helps lead initiatives in publishing, media, education, and public engagement.

As the author of four books, including The Mat Never Ends: Honor Beyond the Steps, Joe combines firsthand experience, professional expertise, and compelling storytelling to deliver presentations on leadership, resilience, military history, mental health, veteran transition, and the enduring lessons of service.
